Year 10 Independent Lesson Work

Year 10, your Task is to complete the Lessons below during this time away. Each Lesson has a scanned Text book page. Your First job will be to read the information and make some summary notes of new information that you have learned (include diagrams if they help you). Then you must write out the questions and answer in complete sentences (keep your presentation neat). Finally you must make green pen corrections, when you check your answers against the mark scheme included with each lesson. This work will be checked for both completion and presentation on your return (achievement points and more rewards will be given to the best!). Teachers may ask you to take a picture of your work and send to them via email also. Set 7 students only need to complete the Physics Lessons each week.

Easter Holidays - Research Project

Your task is to research 3 careers linked to Science that you would be interested in doing. You must write up the qualifications you would require (including GCSEs, A-Levels and type of Degree). A summary of the training or experience required after your education. An explanation as to what you would do in that career and also the starting salary and final salary you might recieve. You must submit this to your Science teacher in the form of a PowerPoint presentation or word document, this must be submitted by Monday 20th April (start of the Summer term). Remember this should be what you would be interested to do so spend time thinking about this and exploring, using the internet to help you. If you are interested in any Biology linked career, please click on the careers tab on this web site as there are lots of articles already assembled to help you.

May Half Term 25th - 29th May

Wildlife Photography May Half Term Challenge

Your task during this half term (now that lock down rules have been slightly reduced) is to go out and take a picture of the most interesting biological specimen (either plant or animal) you can find in the surrounding neighbourhood (if you have an exotic Pet and you think it would be an interesting specimen then you can use it also). You will then need to research the specimen you found, finding out the scientific name and some facts about it life-cycle and how is survives. Email your picture and facts to your teacher - Deadline is Monday 1st June.

If you do not have a garden, Nunhead Cemetery and of Course Peckham Rye are excellent places to find organisms (Reptiles live in Lake in Peckham Rye! and can be easily seen on a sunny day) but please obey all Social Distancing rules while out and remember do not harm any organism on your quest to get your perfect picture.

COVID 19 - Extension Project

The World Famous London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (they have been in the news a lot recently due to modelling and planning the COVID 19 response)  have developed an online course which is free and would be a wonderful course to complete. It only takes about 6 hours (you do not have to do this all in one go) and you will learn about herd immunity, R0 number, vaccines and testing (some of this is very good revision from last year).

Please follow the link below and aim to complete this over the next 2-3 weeks (not giving you a strict deadline on this).  You may get an online certificate of completion so screen shot and copy/paste and send to your teacher as Evidence.

It can be accessed via this link: https://www.open.edu/openlearncreate/course/view.php?id=5319

Physics Lesson 12

Create a revision Mind-map on all the topics you have covered this year in Physics in order to help you prepare for next weeks End of year Ranking exams. (Topics to include = Forces, Distance + Velocity time graphs, Stopping distances, Terminal velocity, Transverse and Longitudinal waves, Electromagnetic waves)

Week Thirteen (Start 6th July)

There are no remote lessons to complete this week as you will be invited into school to Take End of year Ranking exams in many subject. Good luck and do your best.

Summer Work

Your Teachers will be contacting you this week with details on how to sign up to Tassomai. Your task is to reach 10 hours of revision over the next 6 - 7 weeks. (Although this sounds a lot you will easily manage it just completing 20 mins revision using this web site 5 days out of 7 per week). The count down to your final GCSEs begins now and this programme will help you achieve the grades that you want and to help you follow a career that your are interested in!
